Here's to Your Health: From The Creator's Point of View

Growing your own food is the first road you should follow on your way to the Garden of Eden.
 ~ Lady Lavender

Jethro Kloss
"The Creator of this universe made man in the beginning out of the ground. The different properties found in the earth are found in man, and the fruits, grains, nuts and vegetables contain the same elements which are found in earth, and in man. When these fruits, grains, nuts and vegetables are eaten in their natural state and not perverted and robbed of their life-giving properties in their preparation, health, beauty and happiness will be the sure reward. The scripture which says, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge," is surely being fulfilled. But our loving heavenly Father is looking down and He, seeing the untold suffering and wretchedness, has made provision that the use of these things which He has provided will surely bring relief. Read, in this book, of the wonderful properties which are in trees, herbs, flowers and roots, and leaves of the trees, which the Holy Book says are for our medicine. Ezek. 47:12. There are also wonderful life-giving properties in fruit, if properly eaten, and not combined with other foods, the combination of which causes fermentation and other disturbances and thus destroys their life-giving properties."
~ Excerpt from the Foreword of the book "Back to Eden" by Jethro Kloss

Have you ever heard the phrase, "You are what you eat"? Well pay attention people because this one is for real. It turns out we really are made up of what we eat, and, if we eat properly, it's all good. However, poor eating habits will certainly lead to dis-ease and other complications in your body and mind. Jethro Kloss (1863-1946) was an herbalist, food scientist, inventor, lecturer, writer and teacher, known for his advocacy of the use of nature's healing resources.

His book, Back to Eden was first published in 1935, and a much larger revised edition was published in 1939. Due to overwhelming popularity in the sixties and eighties members of the Kloss family authorized another edition to be published in 1986. This one included insights from Kloss' son, Eden, his daughter, Promise, and granddaughter Doris.

The book is a one-stop shop for all things healthy. It focuses on his methods for healing the body naturally with herbs, proper diets and exercise, and a life in harmony with our environment, utilizing its resources the way God intended. For example, he believed that the human diet should not include any meats, eggs, dairy products, sugar, spices, and fermented foods. The book includes numerous self-healing remedies using herbs and things that grow naturally and several recipes for good "soul" food, food good for your soul.

One website dedicated to the Back to Eden concept is www.backtoedenfilm.com. This site features a movie you can watch for free about how to grow your own food naturally and easily. God provided everything we need to do this. It was his intent with the Garden of Eden, and his intent for us here on earth.

One of the most interesting testimonies of the host of the movie was that we all try really hard to grow our gardens. We use weed eaters, and fertilizers, and tillers, and all other manners of foolishness to grow what God has been growing since the beginning of time, with little to no effort. Think about it. The trees in the forest, the cactus in the desert, nature's mountains, landscaped with trees, brush, flowers, all just growing with no care being given. To me, they are great examples of God's perfection and a lesson we need to learn about how to care for the earth we have been entrusted by God to care for.

"And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine"

Together We Are an Ocean: Not Easily Broken

Individually we are one drop, together, we are an ocean
~ Ryunosuke Satoro

A Mother's Courage: The Mary Thomas Story, stars Alfre Woodard as the mother of NBA ball player Isiah Thomas, and gives an inside look at the early life of the former Detroit Piston, but also shares the remarkable story of his mother, whose courage and determination is highlighted throughout the movie as she raises her children as a single parent in a neighborhood thriving with gangs and gang activity.

One of the scenes takes place in the family's home, as Mary Thomas calls all of her children to gather around the dining room table. She had just argued with their oldest brother and he walked out of the house, to go back into the streets to live. As the children, including a young Isiah Thomas, collected themselves at the table she handed each one of them a single matchstick, and then asked each of them to break it in half.

Not knowing why she would ask them to do such a silly thing, each child did as they were told and broke the stick in half with ease. Then Mary Thomas took ten matches from the box and held them together in her hand, and no matter how hard she tried, she simply could not break all the matches at the same time. She then proceeded to teach her childen the valuable lesson about standing together as one.

This lesson also brings to mind one of my favorite scriptures from the bible, Ecclesiastes 4:12. Even though one of us alone can be overpowered, two of us together can defend ourselves better. "A cord of three strands is no easily broken".

This concept was even the basis for the movie titled Not Easily Broken, which focuses on the ideal that marriage is not just a union of two souls but the divine connection of the husband, wife and their God.

Keep on learning, loving, and living people. And if you find yourself alone, remember your God is always with you and He has something in store for you so great, it's well worth the wait. This journey was not meant to be travelled alone.

"I offer you peace. I offer you love. I offer you friendship. I see your beauty. I hear your need. I feel your feelings. My wisdom flows from the Highest Source. I salute that Source in you. Let us work together for unity and love."

God's Merciful Grace: His Angels Watching Over Me

HAVE YOU THANKED YOUR "LUCKY STARS" (ANGELS)?

If angels rarely appear, it's because we all too often mistake the medium for the Message.
~ Eileen Elias Freeman

There are several times in my life that I have often felt like angels were watching over me. Not only watching but protecting, shielding and carrying me through some of the scariest, most challenging and most trying days of my life.

I walked away from car crashes, one so near-deadly that it involved the car sliding out of control, downhill in the rain, travelling backward for a portion of the time, with semi trucks sharing the road; And neither I, nor any of my passengers, suffered so much as a single scratch. All of the back windows, rear side windows, and the passenger side front window had been shattered. There was glass in our hair and clothing, but not a single scratch on our bodies.

I thanked God that day for sparing my life, and the lives of those travelling with me, including my then four year old son, just as I stop and thank Him again as I write this today, for I am eternally grateful. The memory of the crash still gives me the chills and makes me "cold to my bones" (as I like to say).

There were other times, when I was involved in criminal activities back in my late teen years, when I didn't probably even deserve the protection of my guardian angels, but they picked me up and carried me through, as they always do.

I am the product of broken homes and families, yet I have a heart that has learned to love and forgive. I have my Creator to thank for that. The fact that I am still here to give testimony to those who lose their way, just like I once did, is due to the grace God grants upon me, through the blessings of his circle of angels.

The reason I decided to write this blog about angels, and how thankful I am to have them and how I intend to continue to acknowledge them in my life is because I had another "close encounter" recently. I still sit here astonished as I write this, and pause to light another "tea candle" for the oil burner.

For almost two years now, every blue moon, I would smell gas. It would be a faint but very distinct odor lasting only a minute or two and then disappearing. I mentioned it to my boyfriend about a month ago, but it wasn't until recently that he too smelled the gas.

He asked me to contact the gas company immediately and have them do an inspection. The lady on the phone at the gas company said she could not confirm an appointment, and it could be anytime from the time I placed the call (approximately 3:30pm) up until 10:00pm at the latest. But since this was an emergency (the smell or leakage of gas is considered an emergency) she knew they would be there before 9:00pm. She gave me instructions to turn off all of the gas appliances and do not use any electricity. Oh, and we should wait outside until the gas man gets here.

For more information on what you should do if you smell gas click this helpful link. (What to do if You Smell Gas or Suspect a Leak)  It only took me about three minutes to read these life-saving tips. I encourage you to read the info because it could save your life and the lives of those you love.

About five minutes later my boyfriend suggested that we get the grand kids ready so when the gas man gets here we can all go outside. Just as we walked up front to wake them up from their nap, there was a knock at the door and the gas man was here. He came so quickly I was shocked. I did not expect to see him at least for an hour after our call. Had it even been 5 minutes? As my boyfriend showed the gas man to the bedroom, which is where I would usually smell the gas, I woke up the kids and began to put their shoes on when I heard the gas man's gauge beeping its fool head off. The thing was just singing.

I indeed had a gas leak, in my bedroom! The same bedroom I light incense in, the same bedroom I burn candles in. There was a high concentration of gas near the ceiling and near the floor about a foot from where I lay my head at night. As it turns out, this old house built in 1913 used to have gas furnaces in the bedrooms and there are still visible gas pipes that stick out of the wall, but they have all been capped off. I always wondered what they were and used to think maybe gas, but I couldn't figure out who would run gas lines to the bedrooms. There is also one in the bathroom.

The cap needed to be tightened and so the gas man fixed us up in a jiffy. But can you imagine how many times my angels had to sit and watch waiting for a candle flame to burn out, sitting and fighting off all manner of evil I invited by flicking the lighter to burn an incense?

There are some of you who may think that I was lucky,  that I should be thanking my lucky stars, or that it was just a coincidence that the gas never leaked or became sparked by electricity in the air, or never blew up when I was lighting a match or burning a candle. I do not intend to change your views, I simply want to share mine with you. I am and always will be touched by the angels.

You have them too, we all do. I am not claiming to be special, or any better than you, but think back on your life and reconsider your decision to be lucky, or feel lucky to have made it this far. I know that I have been blessed and held in the hands of my God.

It is only by the grace of God and the hands of His angels that we made it through this far.
